Mr. Marciszewski divided his time between New Bedford and New York. He had recently bought the Sprinkler and had been rerigging it. His survivors included his brother Stanislaw Marciszewski of New Bedford.
The scalloper Sprinkler sank on its first trip, in late November 1992. The Paul and Michelle, fishing nearby, rescued Wendell Jordan and Ronald Vallee, who had been floating in the water for about half an hour. They had seen Captain Eugeniusz Marciszewski jump into the sea. He lost his life jacket when he hit the water. A Coast Guard search failed to find the captain.
