Mr. Silva was born in Fayal, Azores, and had lived in New Bedford for 35 years. He had worked as a fisherman all his life. He was a member of the Santo Christo Club and the Portuguese Catholic Society. Survivors included his wife, Louise (Martin) Silva; a daughter, Mrs. Francis Santos; two sons, Manuel of New Bedford and Joseph of Baltimore; a brother, Antone of Fayal; and a stepson, Arthur Silva.
Mr. Silva's body was found off the end of Ocean Street in Hyannis. He was thought to have stumbled and fallen off the bulkhead while boarding the vessel.
