Mr. Gronhilder was better known to fishermen as "Oklahoma Louie"
Lars J. Gronhilder, 59, of 1058 South Water Street, who had followed the sea since he was 7, died yesterday aboard the scalloper Debbie and Jo-Ann about 130 miles east of Pollock Rip lightship. Dr. William Rosen, medical examiner, said death was caused by a heart attack.
Mr. Gronhilder was born in Norway and came to this country in 1919. He was a fisherman-cook aboard the scalloper and a member of the Atlantic Fishermen's Union.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Alvea (Beaudette) Gronhilder, in New Bedford, and his mother, two sisters, a brother, daughter, and grandson, all in Norway.
On May 16, 1958, Lars J. Gronhilder suffered a heart attack while aboard the scalloper Debbie and Jo-Ann. At the time of the incident, the ship was located about 130 miles east of Pollock Rip lightship.
