Arthur L. Miller lived in New Bedford. He drowned after falling overboard on December 20, 1962. A memorial service was held at the Seamen's Bethel, conducted by the Rev. Gene D. Landry, chaplain, on behalf of friends of Mr. Miller and the New Bedford Fishermen's Union.
Arthur L. Miller died after falling overboard in a storm on the fishing grounds off Cape Cod. Another crew member, Robert E. Martell, jumped into the water to save him. He managed to reach Mr. Miller, who was floating face down, but he was unable to hold on to him when the crew pulled him back onto the ship. Mr. Miller's body was not recovered.
